Hapag-Lloyd increases rates from Asia to Latin America

Hamburg-headquartered container line Hapag-Lloyd has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) from Asia to the West Coast of Latin America, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and Latin America East Coast.
The German box carrier said the new GRI will be effective from 1 January and will apply to cargo transported in 20’ and 40’ dry containers, including high cube equipment and 40’ non-operative reefers.
The details for this increase are listed below:
- 20′ Dry container: US$500
- 40′ Dry container: US$1,000
- 40′ High cube container: US$1,000
- 40’ Non-operative reefer container: US$1,000
Hapag-Lloyd has published the following geographical scope for this rate increase:
Asia (excluding Japan), covers the following countries: China, Macau, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, Brunei.
West Coast of Latin America, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and East Coast of Latin America covers the following countries: Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay.
