Buenos Aires, Dock Sud, and Zárate Lead Container Ports in Buenos Aires Province for 2024

While the year isn’t over yet, Buenos Aires, Dock Sud (Exolgan), and Zárate are set to remain the top container ports in Buenos Aires Province for 2024, according to official figures accessed by Argenports.com.

These three ports dominate container throughput, with Mar del Plata and Bahía Blanca trailing far behind. La Plata and Campana rank even lower in terms of activity.

Breaking down the numbers, terminals at the Port of Buenos Aires continue to hold a commanding lead, moving 675,232 TEUs between January and November this year. Dock Sud’s Exolgan terminal follows with 434,196 TEUs, and Zárate, with data available only through September, handled 79,787 TEUs during the same period.

Further down the list, according to data compiled by Argenports.com, is Mar del Plata, where TC2 terminal had an impressive year, recording 8,472 TEUs as of November. Bahía Blanca follows, having moved 7,555 TEUs between January and October.

Rounding out the rankings are La Plata’s TecPlata terminal, which handled 5,408 TEUs from January to September, and Euroamérica in Campana, which moved 2,068 TEUs during the same period.

On a national level, a preliminary analysis places the Port of Rosario in fourth place, with approximately 35,000 TEUs handled. Ushuaia follows with 18,351 TEUs, while San Antonio Este processed 17,928 TEUs. Meanwhile, Deseado and Madryn handled 10,812 TEUs and 9,355 TEUs, respectively, based on early estimates.
