The Pecém Complex and the company Fracht Log signed a contract this Friday (1) that stipulates the implementation of a multimodal cargo terminal with a total investment of R$ 60 million. The venture’s activities will encompass the storage and distribution of non-hazardous products in the area, including temperature-controlled storage/distribution.
“This project is essential for Pecém, as it will offer customized logistic solutions for clients. The refrigerated warehouses, for example, can be used especially for sectors like fishing and fruit farming. These services will allow the Port to receive a more diversified range of cargoes,” says Hugo Figueirêdo, president of the Pecém Complex.
The signing ceremony was attended by Fracht Log’s president, Ruedi Reisdorf, who learned about the Complex’s main projects and toured the Port of Pecém and the location where the new structure will be built. “Our group believes in the potential of this project, given the constant growth of the State and the Northeast region of Brazil. We are enabling a sustainable project, bringing benefits to clients, partners, and the Port of Pecém,” he emphasized.
The implementation and operation phase is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect jobs. The multimodal terminal will be installed on a 10.7 hectares area in the municipality of São Gonçalo do Amarant, in the industrial area of the Pecém Complex. Operations are set to begin in October of this year.
The installed storage capacity will be 12,000 tonnes/year of dry cargo, 36,000 tonnes/year of cold cargo, 2,800m2/month for specialty cargoes, and 2,000 TEUs/month in the yard.
The event also had the presence of Fracht’s Global Development Manager, Dominik Keller; CEO representative in Brazil, Denise Alves; Brazil representative of CTI/Fracht Log, Thiago Abreu; vice president of finance at the Pecém Complex, Rebeca Oliveira; vice president of operations at the Pecém Complex, Fabio Grandchamp; and commercial director of the Pecém Complex, André Magalhães.
