The President of the Santos Port Authority (APS), Anderson Pomini, congratulated Rumo and DP World for signing a binding agreement to build a new grain and fertilizer terminal at DPW’s own private leased area on the left bank, with a capacity to handle 12.5 million tonnes, comprising 9 million tonnes of grains and 3.5 million tonnes of fertilizers.
“This investment adds enormous value to the Port of Santos and showcases our potential to the world,” Pomini celebrated. The CEO of DPW Brasil, Fábio Siccherino, emphasized in a report on the portosenavios website: “The project contributes to the growth of Brazil’s agribusiness, optimizing rail transport and efficiently meeting the demands of exports and imports.”
The new terminal will require an investment of R$ 2.5 billion, and the construction is expected to last for 30 months. The commitment includes an initial partnership of 30 years with the possibility of renewing operations at the multipurpose terminal, which will now handle containers, cellulose, grains, and fertilizers simultaneously.
