Brazil receives authorization to export pork by-products to South Korea

The South Korean government has approved Brazil’s International Health Certificate (CSI) for exporting processed pork fat and proteins intended for animal feed.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this marks the third market Brazil gained access to in South Korea this year. In April, South Korea authorized imports of animal by-products, including poultry flour and fat, as well as ten types of shrimp-based products.

The ministry highlighted that this addresses a specific demand from the Brazilian Animal Recycling Association (ABRA) and caters to Korean importers aiming to expand their feed industry. This expansion is driven by the growing number of domestic animals in Asia.

In 2023, South Korea was the eighth-largest importer of Brazilian agricultural exports, with a total trade value exceeding $3.37 billion.
