Port of Itajaí receives second container ship marking terminal recovery

The Port of Itajaí received its second container ship on Sunday (July 28) since the onset of the crisis that impacted the terminal. Arriving from Mar del Plata, Argentina, the cargo ship CMA CGM Platon docked at 6:30 p.m., an hour ahead of schedule.
The operation followed the same model adopted by the port on July 7, the day a carrier arrived at the port bringing BYD vehicles. The docking took place at berth 3 of the public pier, operated by SC Portos in partnership with Seara Operações Logísticas. This company, part of the JBS group, has taken over the container terminal and is awaiting customs clearance to receive its first ships.
The CMA CGM Platon will handle refrigerated cargo for export and is scheduled to depart on Tuesday. The ship operates under a new regional route established by the shipowner to connect the ports of Santos in Brazil with Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata in Argentina.
Launched in May, this service offers a new logistics option for transporting products that were previously moved by trucks between these countries. The ship, 170 meters long, can carry up to 1,700 containers, including 500 refrigerated units.
This development marks a significant step in the recovery of the Port of Itajaí, enhancing its logistical capabilities and strengthening trade routes in the region.
