The Brazilian government, through its relentless efforts, welcomed the announcements of sanitary approvals from the Thai government for the importation of pecan nuts and from the governments of Angola, Canada, and Australia for the importation of dried distillers grains, known by the English acronym DDG or DDGS, from Brazil.
These market openings will help increase trade flow to these critical markets and reaffirm international confidence in Brazil’s sanitary control system.
In the first seven months of 2024, Brazil made significant strides in its agricultural exports, reaching over $2.77 billion in these four countries. Thailand emerged as the ninth-largest destination for Brazilian exports, totaling $1.8 billion. During the same period, agricultural exports to Canada, Angola, and Australia totaled $604 million, $211 million, and $159 million, respectively, showcasing the potential for further growth.
With these new authorizations, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved its 110th market opening in 2024, bringing the total to 188 openings in 58 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
These results result from the joint work between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
