The Brazilian government announced that Canadian health authorities have approved the import of hay for animal feed and coconut fiber from Brazil without needing a phytosanitary certification.

In the first seven months of 2024, Brazil exported over $604 million of agricultural products to Canada. Earlier this year, Brazil had already secured market access for several products, including dried distillers’ grains (DDG or DDGS), porcine-origin gelatin and collagen, and chewables derived from poultry, goats, and cattle.

With these new approvals, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved its 112th market access in 2024, bringing the total to 190 new market accesses across 58 destinations since the start of 2023.

These achievements result from joint efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
