Brazil opens chicken and beef export market in Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea’s government announced that sanitary certificates for importing poultry meat, mechanically separated chicken meat, and boneless beef cuts from Brazil have been approved.
Initially, exports will be carried out by Brazilian processing plants that were inspected and approved by the Papua New Guinean government last year.
Negotiations for access to the poultry market began in 2020, while discussions for beef access commenced in 2022, driven by the interest of the Brazilian private sector in the 9 million-strong market—the second most populous in Oceania, after Australia.
With these approvals, Brazilian agribusiness marks its 119th market opening in 2024, bringing the total to 197 new opportunities across 59 destinations since the start of 2023.
These achievements are the result of collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
