According to data from the Paraná State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (SEAB), the state solidified its leadership in Brazil’s animal protein export market in 2024, accounting for 25.5% of the nation’s export volume and 17.9% of revenue from beef, pork, and chicken exports. This performance was primarily driven by an impressive 56.8% growth in beef exports.
Despite facing climate challenges, Paraná’s agribusiness sector delivered strong results, with a 4.8% increase in export volume, rising from 2.276 million to 2.387 million tons, and an 8.4% growth in revenue, reaching USD 4.6 billion in 2024, compared to USD 4.2 billion in 2023.
Beef: Spotlight on New Markets
Beef exports were the highlight of 2024, jumping from 20,800 tons in 2023 to 32,600 tons, a 56.8% increase. Revenue also surged, growing by 52.6% to reach USD 137.4 million. This success was driven by entry into new markets such as Germany, Angola, Cambodia, and Mexico, along with significant growth in established markets like China, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.
Poultry: Absolute Leadership in Brazil
Paraná reaffirmed its position as Brazil’s largest chicken producer and exporter, with 2024 exports totaling 2.171 million tons, a 4% increase compared to the previous year. Revenue climbed to USD 4 billion, a 7% rise. A noteworthy development was the inclusion of Lithuania as a new trade partner, purchasing 476 tons worth USD 555,600.
Pork: Significant Growth in Volume and Revenue
The pork sector also posted positive results, with export volume rising by 9.3% to 183,600 tons and revenue increasing by 12.7% to USD 423.6 million. Growth was primarily driven by markets such as the Philippines and Argentina, which significantly boosted their imports.

Fish Market: Strong Expansion
Though smaller in volume, the fish market showed remarkable growth, with export volume rising by 47% to 7,600 tons and revenue soaring by 87% to USD 34.9 million. The United States and Canada led purchases, contributing significantly to this growth.
Summary and Outlook
With robust results across all animal protein sectors, Paraná reaffirms its leadership in the domestic market and its global significance. The state’s focus on market diversification, strengthening existing trade relationships, and continuous improvements in production efficiency positions it as one of the key pillars of Brazilian agribusiness. The performance in 2024 sets a positive outlook for 2025, with potential growth in new markets and maintaining its prominent position in international trade.
