Port of Itajaí to Welcome Giant Car Carrier with Capacity for Over 7,000 Vehicles
Apr, 04, 2025The Port of Itajaí will soon be one of the stops for the Victoria Highway, a massive car carrier set to begin regular operations in Brazil this April. Measuring 200 meters in length and 37 meters in width, the vessel—operated by Japanese shipping company K-Line—can transport up to 7,500 vehicles and special cargo such as heavy machinery, airplane wings, train cars, and large-scale structures.
The Victoria Highway will replace one of the five ships servicing K-Line’s Latin American routes. In Brazil, it will make calls at the ports of Itajaí (SC), Rio Grande (RS), Paranaguá (PR), Santos (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), and Suape (PE). International stops include ports in Argentina, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States, completing a round-trip route of approximately 60 days.
K-Line is one of the world’s largest shipping companies and a pioneer in operating roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels specifically designed to carry wheeled cargo. The company is already active in Itajaí, transporting vehicles for brands such as BMW and General Motors, and leads the ro-ro segment in Latin America with vessels like the Adriatic Highway, Columbia Highway, and California Highway.
