Brazil’s Corn Exports Plunge 99% in Early June Compared to 2024

Brazil’s corn exports began in June 2025 at a significantly slower pace than during the same period in 2024. According to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), Brazil shipped only 1,384.8 tons of unground corn (excluding sweet corn) during the first five business days of this month — representing just 0.16% of the volume exported during the same period last year, when the country exported 850,892.8 tons.

Daily Export Average Plummets 99.3%

The daily average of corn exports also experienced a significant decline. Only 277 tons were shipped per day during the early days of June this year, down 99.3% from the 42,544.6 tons per day registered in June 2024.

Slow Sales by Producers, Says Agrinvest

According to consultancy Agrinvest, the slow sales pace by Brazilian producers has contributed to the sharp decline in shipped volumes. This more cautious market behavior is limiting corn availability for export at the start of the month.

StoneX Expects Recovery in the Second Half

StoneX market analyst Ana Luiza Lodi noted that while exports are indeed slow at the beginning of June, an acceleration is expected in the coming months. She highlighted that the need to clear out second-crop production should boost shipments in the second half of the year.

Revenue Also Drops Sharply

So far this month, corn export revenue has reached just USD 5.67 million — far below the USD 170.7 million generated in the whole month of June 2024. The daily average revenue declined from USD 8.53 million to USD 1.13 million, representing an 86.7% decrease.
