According to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), the Central American country has already imported more than USD 272 million in Brazilian agricultural products in 2024 alone. Among the most purchased items are cereals, flours, and food preparations, underscoring the export potential for rice.

With an estimated population of 5.2 million and a dependency on imports to ensure domestic supply, Costa Rica positions itself as a key destination for Brazil’s rice sector. The authorization of these two new products broadens commercial opportunities and is expected to boost export volumes in the coming months.

Since the beginning of 2023, Brazil has recorded 391 market openings for agribusiness products.
