Paraná bucks national trend with rise in turkey export revenue

Paraná stood out among Brazil’s top turkey exporters in the first half of 2025, recording a 4% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year. The state exported 6,233 tonnes, generating US$16.63 million, up from US$15.96 million in 2024.

The national context shows a decline in exports
Despite Paraná’s positive performance, Brazil as a whole saw a decrease in turkey exports, with an 18.8% drop in volume and a 20% decline in revenue. Between January and June, the country shipped 24,000 tonnes, totaling US$59.54 million, compared to 29,571 tonnes and US$74.38 million in the same period the previous year.

Ranking of Brazil’s top turkey-exporting states
Santa Catarina led the ranking, with 9,239 tonnes exported and revenue of US$22.63 million, although it recorded a 29.8% drop in volume and a 15.2% decrease in revenue. Rio Grande do Sul came in second, with 8,296 tonnes and US$19.76 million, also registering declines of 18% in volume and 22.3% in revenue.

Main international markets for Brazilian turkey
The main destinations for Brazil’s turkey meat were Chile (3,129 tonnes, US$10.53 million), South Africa (2,734 tonnes, US$3.54 million), Mexico (2,167 tonnes, US$5.74 million), the Netherlands (2,062 tonnes, US$8.94 million), and Equatorial Guinea (1,728 tonnes, US$2.82 million).
