Sugar: Brazil to produce 36.370 million tonnes in 2022/23

In 2022/23 (October/September), total sugar production in Brazil is expected to reach 36.370 million tonnes vis-a-vis 35.350 million tonnes in 2021/22. The estimate is from the attaché of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Total exports from Brazil in 2022/23 are expected to reach 26.620 million tonnes, compared to 25.650 million tonnes in 2021/22.
Sugarcane production in 2022/23 is estimated at 613 million tonnes, compared to 576 million tonnes in 2021/22. The use of sugarcane for sugar production is placed in 2022/23 at 275.850 million tonnes (259.200 million tonnes in 2021/22). On the other hand, the use of sugarcane for ethanol is placed at 337.150 million tonnes (316.8 million tonnes in 2020/21).
