Brazil’s cotton exports in 2026 are expected to exceed 3 million tonnes, according to the first estimate by the National Supply Company (Conab) — a level that indicates stability compared with the 2.9 million tonnes projected for this year.

As for domestic demand, the textile sector had shown signs of recovery earlier in the year but reduced purchases by the end of the first half. Domestic cotton consumption is expected to reach 730 thousand tonnes in 2025, down 2.67% from 2024. For 2026, Conab projects a further decline to 725 thousand tonnes, mainly due to the outlook for higher interest rates expected to persist until mid-2026.

As a result, carryover stocks from the 2024/25 crop are estimated at 2.75 million tonnes, while for the 2025/26 season, they are projected to rise to 3 million tonnes.
