Brazil’s corn exports up 12% in October, reaching 40% of last year’s total shipments

Brazilian corn exports began in October with performance above that recorded in the same period of 2024.

According to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), the country exported 2.6 million tonnes of unground corn (except sweet corn) in the first eight business days of the month — a volume that already represents 40.7% of all shipments made in October last year, when 6.4 million tonnes were sent abroad.

Daily export average grows 12% compared to 2024
The daily average of shipments reached 326.05 thousand tonnes, an increase of 12% compared with 219.13 thousand tonnes per business day in the same period of 2024.

Despite the faster pace, analysts note that the result does not necessarily reflect a favorable outlook for the sector.

Higher shipments do not guarantee optimism, analyst says
According to Ronaldo Fernandes, analyst at Royal Rural, the increase in exports is a direct consequence of high domestic production, which forces the country to sell more abroad.

“We have very high production, so there is a need to export more. Even if we match or slightly exceed last year’s volumes, when we look at the official export period — from February to September — performance is practically at the same level as in 2024. That’s not a positive sign given the size of our crop,” explains Fernandes.

Export revenue rises 18.5% in the month
In the accumulated result for October, Brazil has already earned US$549.57 million from corn exports, compared to US$1.27 billion recorded for the entire month of October 2024.

The daily average revenue grew 18.5%, rising from US$57.97 million to US$68.69 million.

Average price of exported corn rises 5.8%
The average price paid per tonne of Brazilian corn also increased, from US$199.10 in October 2024 to US$210.70 in October 2025, a 5.8% rise.

The result reflects strong international demand, even amid high domestic supply.
