Brazil’s pork sector posts higher prices and exports in September, says Cepea

The September Swine Report from Cepea shows that, despite occasional declines in the second half of the month, the monthly average live-hog prices delivered to processors increased across all states compared with August. According to the report, prices reached the highest real levels of 2025, adjusted by September’s IPCA inflation index.
The Philippines becomes Brazil’s main destination for pork exports
Brazilian pork exports continue at a strong pace. Since February, the Philippines has emerged as the leading destination for Brazilian pork, surpassing China. The surge in shipments to the Asian country, along with growth in both new and established markets, has offset the decline in sales to China.

Cepea highlights that these performance results from strategic initiatives by pork industry associations, which have expanded the sector’s global presence and diversified its export markets.
Pork loses competitiveness against beef and chicken
Despite the appreciation in live-hog prices, Cepea notes that pork prices rose more sharply (in absolute terms) in September than those for beef and chicken.
This movement has reduced pork’s competitiveness in the domestic market, which could limit local consumption in the coming months if the price gap persists.
