Chilean ports handled 85.18 million tonnes of cargo between January and September 2025, driven mainly by exports, according to data from the National Customs Service, compiled by PortalPortuario.
Compared with the same period in 2024, when total throughput reached 83.48 million tonnes, volumes rose by 1.7 million tonnes, representing an increase of 2.03%.
Of the total volume, 47.7 million tonnes corresponded to exports — a 0.3% decline — while 37.48 million tonnes were imports, marking a 5.17% rise.
Among the ports with the highest export activity, Caldera led with 5.99 million tonnes, followed by Patillos (5.03 million) and San Antonio (3.83 million).
For imports, San Antonio was the country’s main entry point, handling 9.02 million tonnes, ahead of Quintero (6.15 million) and Mejillones (6.02 million).
Top export products:
Copper ore and concentrates: 11.13 million tonnes
Iron ore and concentrates: 9.57 million tonnes
Rock salt, brine salt, and sea salt: 6.61 million tonnes
Top import products (by CIF value in US$):
Diesel oil: US$ 3.35 billion
Passenger automobiles: US$ 2.72 billion
