The Port of Imbituba is authorized to contract the Executive Design and carry out the works for the rehabilitation and structural reinforcement of the breakwater. The funds, totaling R$90.5 million, will be transferred by the Secretariat of Ports, Airports and Railways (SPAF), which has signed a Commitment Agreement with the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor), to the Port Authority, which will be responsible for executing the works.

“The project to be carried out at the Port of Imbituba is one of the infrastructure initiatives submitted to the Federal Government. It is an important project that has been planned for a long time and will ensure the safety of port operations. The planning and preparation carried out by the Port’s management were essential for it to be selected by the MPor,” said SPAF Secretary Beto Martins.

The bidding process for contracting the works is in the final stage of approval, and it is expected that Governor Jorginho Mello will sign the Notice to Proceed in January 2026.

“This investment in the breakwaters is essential to ensure the safety of operations and the efficiency of the Port of Imbituba. It is a strategic project, planned for years, that strengthens port infrastructure and the port’s development,” said Christiano Lopes, CEO of the Port of Imbituba.

The breakwater project will be added to other works included in the Port’s strategic planning, which comprise dolphins, rock removal, dredging, drainage, breakwater rehabilitation, gate facilities, and other investments. Together, these initiatives will expand the Port of Imbituba’s maritime connections, involving more than R$300 million in public investments.
