Porto de Quequén recorded its best start to the year in history

The Port of Quequén, in Argentina, closed the first month of 2026 with record operational results. According to official data from the port authority, the terminal handled 1,216,779 tonnes of cargo in January, marking the best performance ever recorded for the month in the complex’s history.

During the period, 39 vessels were operated, with an average load of 31,000 tonnes per ship. The result reinforces the terminal’s strategic position within the regional agro-export system, serving as a key link between production, storage, and export logistics to the global market.

Export Profile and Main Markets

January exports were dominated by the grain sector. Feed barley was the main cargo, totaling 481,000 tonnes shipped. Wheat ranked second with approximately 403,000 tonnes, followed by corn at 140,000 tonnes.

Regarding destinations, Saudi Arabia led imports through Quequén, absorbing more than 390,000 tonnes (32% of total exports). Other key trading partners during the month included Bangladesh, Vietnam, Brazil, and Thailand.

Analysts view January’s operational efficiency as a sign of strong outflows from Argentina’s harvest, supported by the terminal’s natural depth, which allows fully loaded large vessels to operate efficiently.
