An operation by Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service led to the seizure of 156.5 kilograms of cocaine on Monday afternoon (May 5) at the Container Terminal of the Port of Paranaguá on the coast of Paraná. The drug was concealed in a shipment of processed sawn wood bound for the Port of Adelaide, Australia.
The inspection was guided by risk management criteria and involved using a high-penetration portable scanner, which enabled the identification of the substance hidden among the cargo. The operation highlights the role of technology as a crucial ally in the fight against international drug trafficking.
With this seizure, the Federal Revenue has already intercepted a total of 419.5 kg of cocaine at the Port of Paranaguá alone in 2025. Across the entire port complex, seizures have reached 1.3 tons so far this year.
