Brazil produced 225,800 vehicles in April, a decline of 9.5% from March, when 249,400 vehicles were manufactured in the country, according to figures from the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers – Anfavea.

Despite the negative monthly result, April output was still 2.4% higher than in the same month of 2025.

In the first four months of 2026, vehicle production in Brazil totaled 872,600 units, an increase of 4.9% compared with the same period of 2025.

Argentina effect

Exports in April rose 8.2% from March, with 43,200 vehicles shipped last month. Compared with April 2025, however, exports fell 11.7%.

In January-April year-to-date, exports reached 142,400 units, a result 16.9% lower than in the same four months of 2025. According to Anfavea, the figure still reflects the cooling of the Argentine market in 2026.

In the first four months of 2025, Argentina purchased 101,500 vehicles made in Brazil. This year, that volume fell to 71,100 units between January and April.

According to Anfavea President Igor Calvet, the Argentine market weakened, but Brazil also lost market share there. In other words, vehicles from other countries are gaining ground in Argentina.

In April, organizations from Brazil and Argentina signed an agreement to strengthen the automotive sector and respond to Chinese competition. The “Buenos Aires Declaration” was signed during the Automechanika event held in the Argentine capital.

The document sets out an integrated agenda focused on competitiveness, attracting investment and strengthening productive integration and, according to the organizations involved in the event, is a response to rising global competition and the sector’s technological transformation.
