Ceará’s agribusiness sector exported US$151.31 million between January and April 2026. Melon was the leading product in the state’s export basket, with US$38.5 million traded in the international market, up 54.38% from the same period last year.

The data come from the Comex Stat platform, operated by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, in partnership with Ceará’s Secretariat for Economic Development.

In addition to the growth in fresh fruit exports, Ceará’s export basket remains strongly supported by traditional products from the regional economy, such as carnauba wax and cashew nuts, segments in which the state holds a leading position in Brazil.

While melon gained ground in foreign trade, some segments posted declines. Carnauba wax exports totaled US$35.1 million in the first four months of the year, down 10.6% from the same period in 2025.

Cashew nuts recorded the sharpest decline among Ceará’s main exported products. Foreign sales totaled US$15.6 million, a 42.47% year-on-year drop.

The sector’s performance highlights the strength of chains linked to irrigated fruit farming, fishing and agroindustrial products, which continue to expand Ceará’s presence in international markets, especially in Europe and the United States.

Other major items include fish, watermelon, coconut water, lobster and fruit juices, underscoring the diversity of the state’s export production.
