Brazil sees apple export volumes rebound in 2026

During the 2024/25 season, low productivity reduced Brazil’s apple export volumes, leading to a larger deficit in the country’s trade balance for the sector. In contrast, the current 2025/26 crop has shown higher productivity and a recovery in production volumes, a situation that has continued to support apple exports throughout the first half of the year.

According to data released by Comex Stat, between January and May of this year, Brazil exported 38 thousand metric tons of apples, a volume three times higher than that recorded during the same period last year. In terms of revenue, shipments generated US$39.64 million (FOB), representing a 222% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Container throughput data obtained and processed by Datamar also confirms the recovery in apple exports. According to the company’s data, Brazil exported 2,574 TEUs of the fruit between January and April 2026, up 245% from the same period in 2025. Beyond the increase in production, apple quality has also improved, further supporting higher export volumes. During the period, the main destinations for Brazilian apples were India, Saudi Arabia, and Russia, which together accounted for 76% of Brazil’s total apple exports. Therefore, considering that domestic inventories still show ample fruit availability, the expectation is that the current pace of exports will continue in the coming months. This should help ensure a less negative trade balance for the sector by the end of 2026.
