Lower international supply expands space for Brazilian mangoes

Brazil’s mango export season is getting off to a positive start, with increased shipments and strong demand from the United States.

The lower availability of fruit from major international suppliers is creating opportunities for Brazilian mangoes, especially in a year when domestic production is expected to increase. In the U.S. market, exporting countries such as Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador are facing lower fruit availability due to unfavorable weather conditions.

In Mexico’s case, exports to the U.S. are expected to end by the end of September. This season, total mango shipments to the country are projected to be just over 10% lower than last year’s, according to data from the National Mango Board (NMB).

At the same time, the European season also presents opportunities, given expectations of a 20% to 25% decline in Spanish production, according to FreshPlaza. In addition, mango shipments from African countries are expected to end earlier than anticipated.

Against this backdrop, Brazil is expected to gain greater space in international trade during the second half of the year, helping to support domestic sales and the flow of production. With domestic production intensifying and competitors facing lower supply, Brazilian exports are likely to increase in the coming months, potentially reaching record shipment volumes in 2026.
