Brazilian car imports via the Port of Vitoria closed last year 16.8% up over the previous year. A total of 44,035 vehicles of different makes and models produced in various parts of the world were discharged at the port’s public terminals.
Poseidon was the port operator that received the most cargo: 30,313 vehicles, representing 68.8% of the total imported.
Although still far behind the volumes handled in 2010 and 2011, Poseidon believes vehicle imports will continue to rise: 2019 numbers grew compared to the previous year, and that had already been higher than 2017. In this context, there is a high expectation for this year.
According to Poseidon’s port operator Roberto Garófalo, the port sector is generally confident of renewed foreign trade growth. “This year of 2020 brings optimism and expectation. The port sector is still quite idle, and I speak not only in the name of Poseidon, but this is also the thought of all companies in the automotive logistics sector in Espírito Santo, as well as carriers and dry ports, among other partners,” he believes.
