AAPA LATAM 2025 Congress opens with record participation: Latin America’s largest port summit

Lima, June 25, 2025. With a record number of more than 700 participants from Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia, the AAPA LATAM 2025 Congress opens today. This is the continent’s most important port event, which positions Latin America as a strategic hub for global trade. This new edition is positioned as a true turning point for the regional port system, consolidating its position as a space for dialogue, cooperation, and concrete action to address the major logistics challenges of the 21st century.

To achieve this milestone, we have formalized a technical alliance with AMBIPAR , a company specializing in global environmental solutions, which will support the process of quantifying, offsetting, and certifying the carbon footprint generated by the congress. The initiative includes a measure Organized by AAPA LATAM, the Congress brings together top authorities, CEOs, operators, investors, multilateral organizations, technology companies, and representatives of the international port community. AAPA LATAM 2025 kicked off on June 24th and will run through June 27th in Lima, a city that combines global connectivity with profound historical symbolism, representing a region that looks to the Pacific with transformative ambition.

The first day of the Congress began with a series of key activities that set the tone for what will be a momentous week:
Exclusive technical visits to DP World Callao and APM Terminals Callao, benchmarks of innovation and sustainability in the South Pacific.

Expanded meeting of the AAPA LATAM Board of Directors, where strategic priorities for strengthening hemispheric cooperation were outlined.

International networking spaces, with the presence of top-level executives and official delegations from more than 20 countries.

A heartfelt welcome cocktail reception at the Westin Hotel, hosted by AAPA LATAM, kicked off the activities with a celebration of Latin American identity, Peruvian hospitality, and the transformative power of ports as engines of development.

For Cary Davis, president and CEO of AAPA, “what we are experiencing this week in Lima is not just another event: it is a clear sign that Latin America is ready to lead, innovate, and collaborate on a hemispheric scale. This is a community that thrives on challenges.”

Juan Andrés Duarte, executive president of AAPA LATAM, emphasized that the Congress “is the result of a renewed vision, designed from and for our region. A community that builds bridges, not only between ports, but between countries, cultures, and generations.”

The Congress agenda includes high-level sessions on Digital Transformation and Port Automation; Decarbonization and Sustainability; City-Port Governance; Security; Organized Crime and New Threats; Global Shipping Strategies; and the Relationship between Infrastructure, Logistics, and Regional Integration, among other conferences.

In addition, the AAPA-CIP/OAS Awards and the new AAPA LATAM Legacy Awards will be presented, honoring historical figures who have shaped the evolution of the sector in terms of port development, sustainability, and human capital.

The 2025 edition of AAPA LATAM thus marks the beginning of a new era of port leadership in Latin America, with a vision that transcends borders. In the words of Zulma Dinelli, General Director of the Congress: “This week we are not only connecting terminals, but also ideas, cultures, and purposes. This is not a technical meeting: it is a celebration of the future we want to build together.”

In this way, Lima becomes the epicenter of a powerful, diverse, and growing network, where Latin American talent, technological innovation, and political will align to transform port infrastructure and maritime trade into real engines of sustainable development.
