ABPA forecasts higher poultry and pork exports in 2025–26

Brazilian chicken meat exports are expected to reach 5.32 million tonnes in 2025, above the 5.295 million tonnes shipped in 2024, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).

The increase comes even after Brazil faced embargoes from several countries due to the detection of an avian flu case at a commercial farm in Montenegro (RS) in May. With the issue resolved and no new infections reported, restrictions imposed by importers such as China were lifted, boosting sales.

Reversal of embargoes and recovery of projections
In August, when the country was still affected by the bans, ABPA even revised its estimates downward, projecting a 2% drop in exports, mainly because of the Chinese embargo. In November, China resumed purchases of Brazilian chicken meat.

For 2026, the association projects that chicken meat exports may reach up to 5.5 million tonnes, keeping Brazil among the world’s leading exporters of the product.

Chicken production growth through 2026
Domestic chicken meat production is also expected to grow. Output is forecast to reach up to 15.3 million tonnes in 2025, compared with 14.972 million tonnes in 2024. In 2026, production could reach 15.6 million tonnes, according to ABPA.

Expansion in pork exports
In the pork segment, Brazilian exports are expected to reach up to 1.49 million tonnes in 2025, above the estimated 1.35 million tonnes for 2024. For 2026, the forecast is up to 1.55 million tonnes.

Growth in pork production
Brazil’s pork production is expected to reach up to 5.55 million tonnes in 2025, compared with 5.3 million tonnes in the previous year, and could reach 5.7 million tonnes in 2026, according to ABPA’s estimates.
