Agricultural commodity prices are expected to lose steam in the next decade

After a surge in 2020, prices of major agricultural commodities are expected to lose steam in the next decade, given an increase in productivity and a slowdown in Chinese demand, said the UN food agency and the OECD.
However, agriculture emissions tend to increase, mainly due to animal production, according to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Agricultural commodity prices have soared since last year, driven by rising Chinese imports and declining global inventories; this led the FAO to project record costs for food importers in 2021.
