Aliança Launches Air Freight Service and Expands Logistics Operations in Brazil

Aliança Navegação e Logística, a subsidiary of A.P. Moller–Maersk and a national leader in coastal shipping and integrated logistics, has launched its air freight service in Brazil, with operations already underway between Manaus (AM) and São Paulo (SP). The initiative reinforces the company’s strategy to provide end-to-end logistics solutions, now enhanced by the addition of air transport to its intermodal portfolio, which already includes coastal shipping, road, rail, river transport, and warehousing.

Primarily targeting automotive, technology, electronics, and food sectors, air freight is ideal for high-value cargo that requires speed and reliability. Fully integrated with the company’s other modes of transportation, the new service enables door-to-door operations with centralized control, offering improved predictability and logistics efficiency.

The first route connects the Manaus Free Trade Zone, a major industrial hub, to Brazil’s main consumption and distribution center in São Paulo, with round-trip operations. The route was chosen based on Aliança’s established presence in the region and the logistics potential of air operations, now available as a new option in the company’s logistics offering.

“Manaus is strategic for testing and structuring this service because we already have robust operations at both ends and understand the region’s importance for industries that demand agility and reliability. This gives us the confidence to launch the service efficiently from the start and continue expanding nationwide as demand grows, always guided by our client’s specific needs,” said Luiza Bublitz, President of Aliança Navegação e Logística.

With Brazil investing in modernizing airport infrastructure and improving modal integration, air transport is becoming an increasingly competitive alternative for companies aiming to shorten delivery times. The air freight market between Manaus and São Paulo currently handles around 6 million kilograms per month, with the potential to convert up to 20% of cargo currently moved by road.
