ANTAQ Approves Study on Chartering Costs for Offshore Support Vessels

The National Waterborne Transport Agency (ANTAQ) approved on Thursday (13) the P14 study, which monitors the costs incurred by Brazilian companies when chartering both domestic and foreign vessels for offshore support navigation.
The study’s findings indicate that Brazilian chartering costs do not align with international market rates due to various factors. As a result, pricing in the domestic offshore support sector must account for industry-specific conditions.
“This study comes at a time when the Agency is focusing not only on regulatory issues related to offshore support vessels but also on supporting public policy initiatives aimed at rebuilding the country’s shipbuilding industry,” explained Director Flávia Takafashi, who served as the rapporteur for the matter.
Part of ANTAQ’s 2021-2024 Multi-Year Study Agenda, the research aims to enhance the agency’s decision-making and operational processes by providing data-driven insights for more precise and effective policymaking.
