ANTAQ, the national waterway transportation agency, authorized the company Samarco Mineração SA to fully operate the Ponta Ubú Maritime Terminal in Anchieta, state of Espírito Santo. The facility will handle dry bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo. The agency issued the authorization this Wednesday (5), in the Brazilian Federal Register.
The authorization of ANTAQ does not exempt the corporation from meeting the safety criteria imposed by the parties involved in the operation, particularly in respect to the Brazilian Navy’s, Fire Department’s, and environmental agency’s responsibilities.
ANTAQ also enabled the terminal facilities to carry out international traffic after assessing that all necessary standards were met.
