ANTAQ Launches Public Consultation on Regulatory Outcome Assessment

The National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) has approved a Regulatory Outcome Assessment Public Hearing on Resolution 62/2021, which aims to reduce information asymmetry regarding container demurrage. The period for sending contributions will begin next Monday (18).
The decision, approved at the last Ordinary Board Meeting, was signed by the Director-General, Eduardo Nery, and published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) last Friday (8).
The regulation under review created various standards to improve market efficiency, such as the obligation of transparency and free consultation, the timeframe for the start and conclusion of free time counting, and scenarios in which this period’s counting is halted.
The document in question will explore container demurrage concepts, offer historical context, and explain why this assessment is being undertaken, with an emphasis on the topic. An examination of the regulation’s reasoning will be carried out, with the goal of assessing the potential implications of the adopted courses of action on the previously recognized regulatory issue in order to measure the achievement of the intended objectives.
The document will also present findings from the study conducted by ANTAQ’s technical department, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to improving its regulation.
Contributions can be submitted to ANTAQ until 11:59 p.m. on November 1, 2023, exclusively through the electronic form available at this link, with contributions sent through other means not being accepted.
