APM Terminals Pecém (CE) reached a historic milestone in October, handling 70,456 TEUs, the highest monthly volume in its 22 years of operation. The result represents a 34.3% increase compared to October 2024, when 52,465 TEUs were registered. With this record month, the terminal also surpassed the total volume handled throughout 2024 — 555,350 TEUs — and has already reached 562,541 TEUs accumulated in 2025, with two months still remaining in the year.
Reefer cargo volumes showed significant growth, particularly on the U.S.-bound route, which rose 54% compared to the previous year — even surpassing volumes bound for Europe. The route connecting Pecém to Northern Europe also recorded a 39% increase, while cabotage operations in Pecém grew 15% over the year.
In 2025, APM Terminals Pecém has strengthened its position as a hub for Brazil’s North and Northeast, connecting long-haul services with cabotage through feedering operations. This was driven particularly by the MSC Santana service, which brings cargo from Asia for transshipment in Pecém, mainly bound for Manaus. This service and its connected feeders are expected to generate around 50,000 additional moves by the end of 2025 compared with last year’s total.
“APM Terminals has been expanding Ceará’s presence in major international trade routes, boosting the state as a growing logistics hub. This record reflects our commitment to operate ever more efficiently, safely, and sustainably. It’s the result of continuous modernization and, above all, of a dedicated team that makes the terminal run every day,” said Daniel Rose, CEO of APM Terminals Suape and Pecém.
Beyond foreign trade impacts, the increased operations have stimulated job creation in the region, particularly in warehousing, transport, port services, and integrated logistics.
“Surpassing last year’s total volume by October is more than just a record — it proves that the Port of Pecém is consolidating itself as a new gateway between Brazil and the world. This result reflects the strength of a dedicated team, the success of strategic partnerships, and the forward-looking vision behind every investment in the Pecém Complex. Day by day, we are building a more modern, competitive, and essential port for the development of Ceará and the country,” emphasized Max Quintino, president of the Pecém Complex.
