Week 202322

Brazilian fresh apple exports in April showed growth compared to March, which is a typical trend. However, they did not surpass the volume recorded in the same month of the previous year.

According to data from Secex, the total exported amount reached 23,000 tonnes. This can be attributed to the decision made by producers and classifiers to store the fruits for the upcoming semester, despite a larger harvest.

Please find below the volume of apples (hs code 080810) exported from Brazil’s ports between Jan 2022 and Apr 2023. The data is from Datamar’s maritime intelligence service DatalIner.

The primary destinations for Brazilian apple shipments were India, accounting for 50.8% of total exports, followed by Bangladesh with 24%, and the United Arab Emirates with 8.2%. Anticipated expectations for the following month indicate a rise in apple exports, particularly in comparison to the previous year, due to increased supply in the ongoing 2022/23 harvest.
