Argentina has allocated the raw sugar quota granted annually by the United States, opening the way for Argentina sugar exports to the US under the 2026/2027 cycle.

The quota covers 44,164 metric tons of raw sugar and was distributed through Resolution No. 173/2026, according to Argentina’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.

The measure allows the product to enter the U.S. market until September 30, 2027.

The allocation was distributed among 21 Argentine export companies based in the provinces of Tucumán, Salta, Jujuy and Córdoba, the main producing regions tied to the country’s sugar industry.

United States remains key market for Argentine sugar

The United States is one of the main destinations for Argentina’s sugar chain, alongside Chile and Uruguay.

In 2025, Argentina exported 576,442 metric tons of sugar to all markets, generating $292 million. The result represented a 12% increase in volume and a 2% rise in value compared with the previous year.

In the first seven months of 2026, Argentine sugar exports totaled 184,651 metric tons and generated more than $86 million.

The new quota allocation is relevant for exporters because it gives companies visibility over access to the U.S. market through the end of September 2027, supporting commercial planning for shipments in the 2026/2027 period.

For Argentina sugar exports to the US, the measure reinforces the importance of quota-based access to one of the sector’s key international markets and gives export companies in northern Argentina a defined framework for shipments in the new cycle.
