Argentina corn exports hit record in July, Rosario exchange says

Argentina exported a record 5.14 million metric tons of corn in July, the Rosario grains exchange said on Friday, underscoring the strength of an exceptional crop even as rainy weather and harvest delays raise risks for grain still standing in the fields.

The exchange said July marked the highest monthly corn export volume in Argentina’s history, surpassing the 5.08 million metric tons shipped in April. The result reinforces Argentina’s role as a major global supplier at a time when buyers are awaiting the Northern Hemisphere harvest.

Earlier this week, the Rosario exchange raised its estimate for Argentina’s 2025/26 corn crop to 70.5 million metric tons, up from 68 million, calling it a historic harvest.

Still, the exchange said export logistics have been complicated by recurring rains, which slowed grain drying and delayed fieldwork. Nationally, Argentina’s corn harvest was 89% complete, 8 percentage points below the five-year average.

The exchange also said soybean sales were running well below expectations. As of August 5, farmers had committed 24.3 million metric tons of the current crop, nearly 5 million metric tons below the 10-year average.

That represents 47.2% of expected production, the lowest share for this time of year in 25 years.
