Argentina Nears Approval to Export Meat to South Korea and the Philippines

Argentina is on the verge of securing approval to export meat to South Korea and the Philippines, according to Roberto Domenech, president of the country’s Chamber of Poultry Processing Companies (CEPA). Speaking to Valor Agro Argentina on Valor Agro Radio LT 7, Domenech revealed that in the case of poultry, five processing plants will be authorized in an initial phase.

The National Service for Agrifood Health and Quality (Senasa) recently announced that authorization has been granted for exports to the Philippines. Last Friday, the required certification from the Southeast Asian country was finalized, allowing exports to commence. “The Philippine Embassy has already confirmed that the certificates have been approved,” Domenech said.

Domenech highlighted the Philippines as “a very interesting market that has been expanding its imports, particularly in recent years.”

The next market set to open for Argentine exports of beef, poultry, and pork is South Korea, with approval expected in the coming days.

In addition, Domenech noted that several markets that had previously closed to the poultry sector due to avian influenza outbreaks have now reopened.
