The Rosario Stock Exchange (BCR, in Spanish) has cut its wheat output projection in Argentina from 11.8 to 11.5 million tonnes. The largest cuts were in the production of the provinces of Córdoba, Buenos Aires, and Santa Fé. However, the output at Entre Ríos offsets a good part of the reduction in production potential. According to the Exchange, if it weren’t for Entre Rios, the Argentine harvest would be estimated at around 11 million tonnes.
The current 11.5 million tonnes forecast represents a drop of 50% compared to last year. Productivity, estimated at 2.3 tonnes per hectare, is the lowest since 2010. The harvesting process has already been 62% concluded.
The line-up, or schedule of wheat shipments from Argentina, predicts the export of 526,562 thousand tonnes in December, said the Safras & Mercado consultancy. This month, 202,800 tonnes are yet to be shipped.
