Argentina’s beef exports fell sharply in volume in April 2026 compared with March, while international prices underwent a historic recovery and are now at their highest levels in four years, according to a report by Argentine newspaper Clarín.
Citing a report from the ABC Consortium of Argentine Meat Exporters, the newspaper said 46,100 tonnes of chilled and frozen beef were shipped last month, generating US$321.3 million in revenue.
Compared with March 2026, shipments fell 26.5% in volume and 24.6% in value.

However, Clarín noted that compared with April 2025, export volumes fell 13%, while revenue rose 19.7%, driven by a sharper increase in international prices.
According to the report, the average price of Argentine beef exports reached US$6,968 per tonne in April 2026, up 2.5% from March 2026 and a sharp 37.7% above the level recorded in April 2025.
The increase consolidates the reversal of a trend that began in 2025, after several years of weak international beef prices.
After reaching a peak of nearly US$6,300 per tonne in April 2022, Clarín recalled, prices entered a downward phase, falling to just US$3,740 per tonne.
Since then, the international market has resumed an upward trend, bringing prices back close to US$7,000 per tonne.
Positive figures in the first four months
In the first four months of 2026, Argentina’s chilled and frozen beef exports totaled 211,300 tonnes, generating US$1.3992 billion in revenue, up 7.5% in volume and 44.5% in value.
China remains the main driver of Argentine beef exports, Clarín reported. The Asian country accounted for 57.4% of shipments in April and more than 60% of the year-to-date total.
