Argentina’s vegetable exports reached their highest value in 22 years in the first four months of the year, driven by products such as garlic, frozen potato preparations, seeds and onions.
The Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Secretariat, part of Argentina’s Economy Ministry, said exports rose 17% in value from the same period in 2025, reaching US$265 million. Export volume increased 12% to 269,351 tonnes, based on INDEC data.
Among the strongest performers, vegetable seed exports rose 84% in value to US$22.8 million, the highest level since 2004. Fresh onion exports increased 72% to US$14 million.
Fresh garlic exports rose 21% to US$105 million, while frozen potato preparations grew 5% and exceeded US$110 million, a record for the first four months of the year.
Smaller export categories also posted gains. Squash and pumpkin exports rose 57% in value, while fresh or chilled carrots and turnips increased 55%. Fresh or chilled potato exports grew 7%.
Sweet potatoes also returned to foreign markets after several four-month periods without exports. Shipments reached US$188,000 and 499 tonnes, setting records in both value and volume since 2004.
Brazil was the main destination for Argentina’s vegetable exports, followed by the United States, Chile, the Netherlands, Uruguay, Paraguay and Spain, among other markets.
The secretariat said Argentina’s vegetable export basket is becoming more diversified, with products from different regions of the country gaining value-added opportunities abroad.
