Argentine agro-exports increase 27% in 2021

Argentine agro-exports totaled US$ 14,367 million in 2021, up 27% from the previous year. Its agro-exports went to 105 destinations worldwide, with five markets accounting for 57% of shipments, led by Brazil (17%) and Vietnam (7%), and South Korea (7%).
According to FreshFruit, Argentina has an agro-export basket of more than 270 agricultural products. However, only two items account for 71% of their supply, namely corn (56%) and wheat (15%).
In this context, the commercial agro-intelligence firm stated that such concentration occurs “in products with very volatile prices because they are commodities.”
Corn exports totaled 35,853,286 tons for US$ 8,047 million, a 3% decrease in volume but a 32% increase in value over the previous year. Argentina reached 115 destinations with this product, the most important of which were Vietnam (17%), South Korea (13%), and Egypt (10%).
As for wheat shipments, they reached 8,474,354 tons and generated US$ 2,122 million. Argentina exported wheat to 46 countries during this period, the most important of which were Brazil (62%) and Chile (10%).
Compared to the previous year, fruit exports dropped 11% in volume and remained similar in value.
