Bean exports hit record high, but domestic market remains sluggish

The Cepea/CNA Indicator shows that the domestic market for carioca beans (grade 9 or higher) remained sluggish between 2 and 9 October, as rains across several states reduced buyers’ interest.
The indicator also reported that Brazilian bean exports hit a new historical record in September, with 85.4 thousand tonnes shipped during the month and 488.4 thousand tonnes exported over the past 12 months.
Between January and September 2025, the exported volume (361.9 thousand tonnes) has already surpassed the total for all of 2024. Mato Grosso leads as the main exporting state, followed by Tocantins, Paraná, Minas Gerais, and Goiás, while India accounts for more than half of purchases (57%). Most shipments consist of vigna mungo and radiata bean varieties.
According to Tiago Pereira, technical advisor at CNA, the current scenario reflects two opposing forces: record export performance alongside a domestic market still weakened by low demand and weather impacts.
“The intensification of rains in October is likely to influence this situation, especially in Paraná, which accounts for a large share of the country’s first bean harvest,” Pereira said.
