Beans/Cepea: Exports Surge in the First Half of the Year

The first half of 2025 ended with a positive outlook for Brazil’s bean exports. According to data from Secex, Brazilian bean exports totaled 137.02 thousand tonnes from January to June this year, a significant increase of 89% compared to the same period in 2024. Imports, on the other hand, amounted to 4.9 thousand tonnes in the first half, 46% lower than those recorded from January to June 2024.
In the domestic market, a survey by Cepea shows that prices for carioca beans rated nine or above, those rated 8 and 8.5, and black beans continue to decline.
However, Cepea researchers point out that the price drops have been more intense for commercial-grade beans, which are facing both higher supply and weaker demand. In the case of higher-quality beans (rated nine or above), the downward trend is being limited by producers who still hold these lots choosing to store them while waiting for prices to recover.
In the fields, harvesting is progressing in key producing regions, while the third crop season is still developing, with phytosanitary concerns affecting some farms.
