Beef: Colombia expands export window for meatpackers in Paraguay
Apr, 08, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202214
Colombia will now receive a larger volume of beef from Paraguayan meatpackers thanks to an authorization granted by Invima, Colombia’s institution dedicated to food and drug sanitary checks. The Colombian organization granted Paraguay the recognition of sanitary equivalence, a legal instrument that Paraguay did not have until now.
With this new export window, which the Paraguayan embassy in Colombia announced, the Quality and Animal Health Service of Paraguay (Senacsa) may include new slaughterhouses in the list of facilities licensed to export beef and other similar products.
The Latin American market for Guarani meat products is expanding as – so far in 2022 – it has exported 67,891 tonnes to Chile, Brazil and Uruguay, among others.
