Bovine genetics exports grew 53% in the first quarter

Bovine genetics exports from Brazil grew 53% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year, according to the Brazilian Association of Artificial Insemination (Asbia). The number of doses of semen sold abroad reached 229,600.

Also according to the new Asbia Index, the collection of bovine semen, specifically of those animals slaughtered for meat consumption, reached 5.488 million doses, compared to 4.242 million from January to March 2021. As for dairy-producing animals, the increase was 3% to 739.6 thousand doses.

Sales decreased in the domestic market. On the one hand, beef cattle genetics accounted for 6% fewer sales domestically, while, in the milk sector, sales reached 10% less.
