Egg exports from Brazil, including both shell eggs and processed products, totaled 40,894 tonnes in the 12 months of 2025, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) said, marking a historical record. The volume was up 121.4% from the 18,469 tonnes shipped in the same period of 2024.
Export revenue also reached a record high. Full-year proceeds totaled $97.240 million, a 147.5% increase from $39.282 million in 2024.
In December alone, Brazil exported 2,257 tonnes of eggs, up 9.9% from 2,054 tonnes shipped in December 2024. Revenue for the month rose 18.4% year on year to $5.110 million, compared with $4.317 million a year earlier.
Among the main destinations in 2025, the United States led in cumulative volume, with 19,597 tonnes, an increase of 826.7% from 2024. Japan followed with 5,375 tonnes, up 229.1%, while shipments to Chile totaled 4,124 tonnes, down 40%. Mexico imported 3,195 tonnes, a rise of 495.6%, and the United Arab Emirates received 3,097 tonnes, up 31.5%.
According to ABPA President Ricardo Santin, the year was marked by a sharp rise in exports to the United States, a trend that later lost momentum following the imposition of higher tariffs. He said the sector subsequently reorganized, with new destinations gaining traction, notably Japan, a higher value-added market that led Brazilian shipments in the final months of the year.
Santin added that export volumes surpassed the equivalent of 1% of Brazil’s total egg production, a milestone for the sector’s international expansion without affecting domestic supply, which continues to absorb around 99% of national output. He said this shift, combined with early-year weather conditions marked by high temperatures and the approach of the Lenten period, when demand typically rises, should help balance supply in the domestic market.
