Global demand for high-quality animal-based foods continues to expand, which has also driven growth in the animal feed and nutrition market. According to the Alltech Agri-Food Outlook 2025 report, Brazil produced 86.6 million tonnes of feed in 2024, remaining among the world’s top three producers. In addition, data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) show a 14% increase in pet food exports in 2024, reflecting greater agility in issuing international certificates and rising global interest in Brazilian nutritional solutions.

According to finance and economics expert José Ricardo Loschi, customization is what opens doors in more demanding markets. “When we adapt animal nutrition to the genetics, metabolism, and management of each herd, we can deliver greater production efficiency and added value. This differentiation has been key to winning clients in regions as diverse as Angola and France,” he said.

In Africa, Angola has stepped up imports of agricultural inputs and cereal by-products, creating opportunities for Brazilian animal feed products. In France, the gateway to the European Union, the challenge lies in meeting stringent quality standards, such as Good Manufacturing Practice certifications for feed, and ensuring traceability and safety throughout the production process.

According to the Brazilian Association of the Animal Nutrition Industry (Sindirações), exports of animal feed preparations are one of Brazil’s most promising avenues for diversifying markets. Higher value-added products such as concentrates, premixes, and functional additive blends are gaining ground precisely because they provide traceability and meet the specific demands of each region.

This expansion is supported by regulatory efforts: Mapa has expanded the list of countries authorized to import Brazilian animal nutrition products, shortening the time needed to access premium markets. For international players, Brazil’s combination of scale, quality, and customization makes it a competitive and reliable supplier. “Sustainable growth in the export of nutritional solutions depends on understanding the realities of each market and delivering exactly what each one needs. This mix of science, efficiency, and customer proximity is what guarantees the opening of new frontiers and the consolidation of strong trade relations,” Loschi emphasized.
