Brazilian government announces that Nicaragua’s phytosanitary authorities have officially approved the import of Brazilian-produced beet seeds, marking another step forward in trade relations between the two countries and reinforcing Brazil’s strategy to expand its presence in the global agricultural input market.
With this new authorization, Brazil reaches 444 new market openings for agricultural products since the beginning of 2023 — a result of coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), which have been actively promoting the country’s agribusiness abroad.
Nicaragua, a country with about 6.9 million inhabitants, imported over US$47 million in agricultural products from Brazil in 2024. Among the main items exported were cereals, flours, and food preparations.
The opening of the market for beet seeds symbolizes the growing international confidence in the quality of Brazilian agricultural products and the country’s ability to meet the sanitary and technical standards of diverse destinations.
